Ciao!

‘Tis the season for frivolity, honesty + *anonymous* question boxes…
In upcoming letters, published across the holiday season, I’ll be answering questions submitted anonymously by you. You can ask me anything – from advice on a business idea, opinions on culture, advice on a conundrum, restaurant recommendations, staying creatively inspired, literally anything. And I mean anything. So, if you’ve ever thought “I wonder what Rachael would think about this…” (as you do…), this is your chance to ask and find out.
A late letter from a sleepy writer. It’s been a whirlwind few days where the hours and time zones have melted into one. It’s times like this where I truly wonder how new parents do it. The gratitude for my child-free life has never been so pertinent.
I’m still quite dazed so I apologise in advance if this letter is a little clunky. I’m in the process of figuring out how to put together audio-only letters (yes, they are on the way!). I intend to use them for times like this where speaking candidly is easier than writing something concise and considered. But alas, here we are.
I’m mixing up the structure today – sharing what I’ve been thinking and feeling lately on each theme of this letter: Culture, Creativity + Business.
My final few days in London were full of work, packing and more work. Thankfully, I managed to squeeze in a celebratory dinner at Andrew Edmunds on my final night. It’d been high on my list since before I’d moved, and it did not disappoint.
It’s very British in its affair: a small restaurant in Soho with white tablecloths and a daily handwritten menu. It has no music (which I’m not the biggest fan of tbh) and the service was… very British.
But the food. It truly spoke for itself. At first glance, our goose-leg salad didn’t look like anything special. Upon tasting, any doubts we had were dashed. The lack of music, at times questionable service… erased. This is for those who dine for the food. A highlight was the pork we had for mains and the dessert which we matched with this caramel-tasting sherry. Heaven.
Agenda for today’s letter:
CULTURE: We all have Christmas-fever… and I’m feeling more overwhelmed than ever
CREATIVITY: I’m staying creatively engaged by… accepting that done is better than perfect
BUSINESS: This time of year as a founder can be tricky… the highlight reel is in full swing
CULTURE
We all have Christmas-fever…
And I feel more overwhelmed than ever
